Annie Lennox new single

Former Eurythmics star Annie Lennox is preparing to release a new single and album after a break of nearly four years.

Dark Road is the first single from the album Songs of Mass Destruction and as you probably guessed there's a bit of a political theme to it.

She said: "I wanted to do something that would sum up how I've been feeling over the last four years because I've been very stressed by world circumstances particularly the war in Iraq."

In her 25 year career, no other British female artist has acheived the sort of success Annie has.

She has sold 78 million records around the world and had 33 hit singles.

Her latest single hits UK record stores on Monday.
