Manchester International Festival will stage a series of UK exclusive shows and world premieres by artists including Lou Reed, Kanye West, PJ Harvey, and William Orbit for the International Music Series.

The shows are part of the Festival’s International Music Series and mark the UK premiere performance of Lou Reed’s seminal album Berlin, a one-off performance by hip-hop star Kanye West, and performances by PJ Harvey and Bert Jansch with Beth Orton and Bernard Butler.

Two of Manchester’s iconic bands will perform at the Ritz – Happy Mondays with special guests, and The Fall will play a one-off gig to coincide with the launch a new book inspired by their lyrics - Perverted by Language.

The line-up also includes experimental Glasgow rockers The Blue Nile in their only UK show and first show in seven years; and Cataluñyan innovators Ojos De Brujo – who blend flamenco with an invigorating mix of dance, bhangra, hip-hop and funk.

The BBC Philharmonic will perform the world premiere of William Orbit’s Orchestral Suite conducted by Alexander Shelley.
Embracing Manchester’s musical heritage, the International Music Series reflects the rich landscape of the music scene in Manchester; past, present and future.
