Jamie Foxx has insisted there's no romance between him and Sela Vave, despite rumours she may have been the reason for his split from Katie Holmes.
The 51-year-old actor was photographed holding hands with Vave, 21, as they left a nightclub in Los Angeles last weekend - with reports of Foxx and Holmes's split after six years together emerging just hours later.
The breakup led to speculation that a romance between Foxx and Vave was responsible for the end of his relationship with Holmes, but the Ray star hit back at the rumours in a lengthy Instagram Live video on Wednesday night.
Insisting he's just taken Vave under his wing as a new protege, Foxx explained: "When I met Ed Sheeran, I didn't know him from Adam. He slept on my couch for six weeks. Nick Cannon was 13 years old, he used to sleep at my old house... everybody come to my crib.
"I did the same thing with her. We took her under our wing. We wanted to treat her the same way and give her the opportunity."
His video comes as the New York Post's gossip column Page Six reported that Vave has moved into Foxx's mansion in Thousand Oaks, California.
Calling the speculation about a romance with Vave a "double standard", Foxx continued: "I spoke to that girl's mom, and she put her trust in me. We want to make sure she has the opportunity to show you the talent we saw. All of the unnecessary hate for the woman, just because the guys are coming here and they're working hard, but when a girl does it, she has an ulterior motive. Stop that s**t. I embrace all the artists (who) come here. That's our artist. She's been brought into the family, she works hard, and she's a beautiful singer."
As for the pictured of him and Vave holding hands, Foxx added: "I'm escorting her to my car, to put her in the car - my artist, who hangs out with my kids and is as young as my daughter."
The actor shares daughter Corinne Foxx, 25, with Connie Kline, and daughter Annalise Bishop, 10, with Kristin Grannis.
Following Foxx's video, Vave shared it on her own Instagram account, and revealed the amount of hate she's been receiving from trolls as she captioned it: "For the people who care... here is the TRUE story(swipe)... for everyone else you can keep talking and calling me a wh**e, slut, homewrecker, thot, gold digger, that I should die, and whatever else you want. Because it doesn't matter to me, I'm out here to work and do what I love most."
