Lee Mead loves Christmas – it is his favourite time of the year and this year he has a couple of very special treats in store for his fans.

On 14 December 2020 Lee will release his first ever Christmas single – In My Arms for Christmas. At the same time Lee is announcing that he has teamed up with the GMB Union and will be giving an extra special Christmas present to qualifying Key Workers around the UK via a 1000 ticket giveaway for his 35-date 2021 UK concert tour Lee Mead – My Band And Me. The tour kicks off on 3 September and runs through 31 October 2021.

It’s been a tough year for everyone and In My Arms For Christmas, a catchy, well-crafted pop song, the lyrics reflect the sentiment that many are feeling at this time, especially key workers, in that they just want to be in the arms of their loved ones at Christmas. Released by WestWay Music the single is available here.

Lee is pleased to be supporting the GMB Union who represent many key workers and feels very strongly about the important role they play in all our lives as they have been and are always on the frontline of life and never more so than this year with the current fight against the Covid-19 pandemic which has blighted all our lives.

Lee commented “Coming from a family of keyworkers – my father is a postman, my mother a cleaner, my brother a customs officer and sister-in-law is a nurse, I really understand the sacrifices made by this particular sector of the community – and no more so than at Christmas time when the majority of people just want to be with their loved ones. I had planned to host a concert with special guests around Christmas 2020 in London for Key Workers but it was not possible to confirm due to the pandemic and so I am delighted to be able to offer these tickets for my tour – we all need something to look forward to!”

Lola McEvoy, GMB Key Worker Organiser said “Our Key Workers have faced unprecedented pressure this year – it’s only right they be rewarded with decent pay and conditions as well as thanks and praise. Lee’s generous gesture of free tickets shows the strength of support for our members on the frontline. Our NHS members have been saving lives, our Care members providing dignity for our most vulnerable, our education members supporting the next generation, while our retail, logistics and food production members have been keeping the country fed. Their contribution must be recognised with a fundamental shift in the way we value work, going forward we will continue to fight for them to get the reward they deserve.

When stars like Lee use their platform to celebrate the work of our members it strengthens our hand, as well as giving them a much-needed night out! We wish Lee all the best with his single and tour, and on behalf of our members, thank him for reminding everyone that our key worker heroes are still on the frontline risking their health to protect us from the Coronavirus. COVID-19 won’t take a break because it’s Christmas, so neither can they.”

Lee has donated 1000 free tickets to Key Workers who are members of the GMB and to coincide with the release of the single a ballot will be open from 14th December until Christmas Day whereby eligible members can register to apply for two tickets for a show at their nearest theatre at www.leemead.co.uk.

Tickets for the tour Lee Mead – My Band And Me – which kicks off on 3 September 2021 and runs through 31 October 2021 will be on sale from 11 December 2020 via theatre websites on www.leemead.co.uk.
