Following the release of the preview clips by the Public Broadcasting Services, the official website has just revealed that the venue for the 2012 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest will be the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali. The event is set to be hosted by the charismatic and dynamic young duo of Elaine Saliba and Ronald Briffa who have already presented major showcases like the 'Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza' in separate years respectively. Many believe that this choice was always the better option due to the larger amount of seating as well as more parking area noting that earlier this year, the latter proved to be a substantial problem for songwriters, artists and other members of the respective teams of the contestants.
The current dates of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest are the 3rd and 4th February 2012 having been pushed back by a whole week due to the fact that there are some special guests coming over that needed to be accommodated in the best possible way. ESCflashmalta has learned that one of the guests that the Public Broadcasting Services are trying to lure are the winners of this years' Eurovision Song Contest; Eldar & Nigar in an aim to continue to strengthen our relationship with the host nation of 2012, Azerbaijan. In the meantime, many had been wondering about the choice of venue even due to the fact that despite the Mediterranean Conference Centre having better acoustics and more prestige as a concert hall, it lacked the making of a large venue which would be needed to catapult Malta on the possible hosts for the event in the eventuality of victory. The Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre has been the venue for the showcase for a total of five times thus far coming in 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 with next year being the sixth in total.
