Sono state annunciate le nomination per i BRIT Awards 2020.
Prosegue il successo inarrestabile di Lewis Capaldi, che ha ricevuto quattro nomination per i Grammy’s britannici, tra cui Best New Artist e British Album of the Year, il più prestigioso e ambito riconoscimento che il 23enne si è guadagnato grazie al disco con cui ha debuttato sulla scena musicale Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent. Per aggiudicarsi la statuetta, Lewis dovrà concorrere con Heavy Is The Head di Stormzy, Psychodrama di Dave, Fine Line di Harry Styles e KIWANUKA di Michael Kiwanuka.
I cinque artisti sono in nomination anche per il British Male Solo Artist Award, mentre Mabel, Charli XCX, Mahalia, Freya Ridings e FKA Twigs per il British Female Solo Artist Award.
Lewis è candidato anche al titolo di Song of the Year con la hit Someone You Loved, al pari di Stormzy (Vossi Bop), Ed Sheeran e Justin Bieber (I Don't Care), Sam Smith e Normani (Dancing with a Stranger) e Mark Ronson e Miley Cyrus (Nothing Breaks Like A Heart).
I Coldplay, Foals, Bastille, Bring Me the Horizon e il duo rap D-Block Europe sono in lizza per il titolo di Best British Group.
Per i premi riservati agli artisti non britannici sono stati nominati Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Lizzo, Post Malone, Bruce Springsteen, Camila Cabello e Lana Del Rey.
La cerimonia, che verrà condotta dal comico Jack Whitehall, si terrà alla O2 Arena di Londra il 18 febbraio.
