Back with the original four piece line up and in the middle of a successful UK tour which has sold out in various parts of the country, The Rifles release ‘Minute Mile’ and also announce the imminent arrival of their fourth album, ‘None The Wiser’, this coming January.

‘Minute Mile’ is a catchy, thoughtful but upbeat tune underpinned by a solid, consistent drum beat and a spiky guitar sound all of which grow in to a crescendo before hitting the chorus. It’s a classic Rifles tune in that it mixes sounds from previous Rifles songs such as ‘The Great Escape’ and ‘Tangled Up In Love’. Whetting the appetite of their fans, ‘Minute Mile’ however overall gives the impression that along with the return of the original line-up, the album will bring their sound closer to their roots of the first two releases both of which were British beat classics.

As with almost all Rifles tracks it’s cool. The vocals and harmonies are strong and the lyrics clever. It’s more commercial than what you’d expect from Joel and Luke but certainly shows they’ve got plenty more in the locker for their loyal fan base to enjoy
