The votes are in and the first ever official FA Cup anthem has been announced as Reverend and the Makers track ‘Shine the Light’. It’s been a hard choice for the voters with an outstanding choice of tracks from artists such as The Enemy, Lethal Bizzle, Devlin, The Pigeon Detectives and The Twang.

Reverend and the Makers have thanked Sheffield Wednesday Football Club for backing them and frontman Jon McClure said about the result "We said before this that we'd prefer our track to become the official FA Cup Anthem than to be a Number 1…. For me, the only thing that would be better is if Sheffield Wednesday were to win The FA Cup next season - but I reckon we can settle for this now."

For some it won’t be a surprise that ‘Shine The Light’ has won by thousands of votes - it is already known in football circles as the signature tune for the game FIFA 13.The song fits in with the indie sounds that TV and radio stations often use in their programming and is sure to be a popular choice with fans with its gravely vocals and catchy hook. You can see Reverend and the Makers performing the track at this weekend’s Final at Wembley or if you couldn’t get a ticket, on the box.
