With intricate guitar solos throughout (provided by Lissack), Four is a raw back to basics album which reminisces fans of Bloc Party’s debut album ‘Silent Alarm’.

‘Kettering’, the 5th song from four is one of the heaviest songs that Bloc Party have produced. The heavy tone is the perfect way to describe the riots of 2011 throughout the UK.

Despite there being a heavier influence with tracks like ‘Kettering’ and ‘Coliseum’, Bloc Party have not reverted from their roots too much with mellower efforts such as ‘Truth’ and the tranquil ‘Day Four (second single)’.

Despite a slight change in direction from there previous effort ‘Intimacy’, Four offers the best that Bloc Party have to offer in terms of a complete album. Listening to the entire record on numerous occasions, you can sense that all 12 songs (plus the 2 bonus tracks), are not made to be album fillers....
