Admittedly I’m a huge Paloma Faith fan so I was really excited to hear her latest track and for the most part it lived up to the expectation. The beginning of the song definitely ‘grabs you’ and makes you want to listen on with absolutely superb vocals delivered from Faith. The only negative that comes to mind is the slight repetitiveness. But what I find strange is that to me the opening of the track reminds me of another song, but I can’t quite put my finger on which one. Suggestions anyone?
As for the meaning, it’s easy to listen to the lyrics and think that the song is literally about a 30 minute love affair, however digging a little deeper quite a significant message becomes apparent. In my opinion, Faith is trying to say that you should take every opportunity you can, no matter how big or small because you won’t regret it. There will of course be a variety of interpretations from different people.
On the whole, the song is soulful and easy listening. What more could you want? ’30 Minute Love Affair,’ isn’t a party/rave track, but it will do for pretty much any other occasion. The fact that it is so easy listening might even attract those who are fans of other genres or singers to Paloma Faith. Definitely one for the iTunes playlist.
