Kicking off the evening with ‘Mirror Image’, the long lyric less introduction allowed for a great build up before Faris Badwan set the tone for the evening with flawless vocals. The majority of songs performed, came from the Horrors previous 2 albums, Primary Colours and the highly rated Skying.
The young ish crowd grew livelier and livelier as the Horrors started playing songs off Skying. ‘I can see through you’ was the catalyst at only the 3rd song of the evening. Straight after, the Horrors went into ‘Changing the rain’ which despite being quite the mellow tune, had the crowd bouncing. To make it a hatrick of consecutive tracks from Skying, the Horrors gave their performance of the night with ‘Endless Blue’. Endless Blue was performed with great distinction starting off with the mellow sounds of the saxophone, before building up nicely into the combination of fast guitar/drumming and catchy lyrics!
The Horrors ended in style with their first single from Skying ‘Still Life’ being belted out around the Brixton academy in fine style, only to be accompanied with thunderous applause. Following this was a short break before the Horrors took to the stage to perform an epic 2 song encore. The crowd were rewarded with an extra treat before departing, with the extended play of ‘Moving further away’.
No doubt the perfect way to end an evening in which the Horrors played one of their biggest headline shows to date…..
