Hailing from Camden town, Tribes started off their headline show with the lively hit ‘Whenever’. Despite the mellow introduction of ‘whenever’, the crowd were as lively as ever, especially when the fast and bubbly chorus kicked in! Shortly after, Tribes played their mildly mannered hit ‘Girlfriend’, which was a track from their pre album E.P, ‘We Were Children’. Despite not being on their debut album ‘Baby’, ‘Girlfriend’ was very well received by a crowd that were nothing short of excellent throughout the night!

Tribes set list was predominantly made up by well received album ‘Baby’, which includes their first single and crowd favourite ‘Sappho’. Sappho, one of Tribes’ heavier songs, brought a thunderous sing along from the thousand or so crowd, packed inside the well known Shepherds Bush Empire.

The performance of the evening came from highly emotive song ‘Nightdriving’. Nightdriving, which was played at a slow pace in comparison to the rest of the set, refers to the questioning of God and your friends when you need them most. Nightdriving, the song that attracted me to Tribes was one of the last songs in a truly absorbing night in west London.

The final song of the evening was the acoustically performed ‘Coming of age’. Coming of age, the solo encore track is hardly one of the most known Tribes songs, but was nevertheless applauded by the crowd as yet again it was performed with distinction. Coming of age was a great way to end a flawless performance by one of the best new bands around. It’s really no wonder why they were nominated for the best new band award by NME…..
