1901, the first song on Birdy’s album starts off slow as an introduction to an album would. Gradually, the mesmeric sound of the piano kicks in after the 30 second mark with a comfortable drum beat following shortly after.

Birdy’s voice throughout the song is so pure and gentle. The story behind the song, which is shown to dramatic effect in the music video, is based around the highs and lows of a young couple. The journey of the couple is captivated by the vocals of Birdy.

Thus far, all of Birdy’s singles have charted in the top 50 with her debut album reaching a quite respectable position of 13th in the UK. However it reached the chart summit in the Netherlands.

Despite the numerous covers on ‘Birdy’ (album), Bogaerde stamps her authority to give them (her covers) all sense of uniqueness. 1901, is certainly a rendition that Birdy can be proud of….
