Veering off in slightly a different direction that is the Kasabian norm, Goodbye Kiss gives off the vibe the Christmas is round the corner. The song is outrageously jolly despite lead singer Tom Meighan’s best efforts to sound like former Oasis and current Beady Eye front man Liam Gallagher.

From time to time, you can hear the quiet backing vocals of song writer and lead guitarist Sergio ‘Serge’ Pizzorno which complement the rhythmic drums throughout. Without a doubt, it is the drums and not the guitar (thank you drummer Ian Matthews) that saved the song and Kasabian from another potential chart embarrassment. Goodbye Kiss goes against the style of first single ‘Days are forgotten’ with their first effort certainly sounding more intense and lively. In contrast, Goodbye Kiss is like the younger sibling who goes unnoticeable through life, getting by without saying the word.

With a more mellow and relaxed sound, Goodbye Kiss is certainly not one the worst Kasabian song to be released, however, it may more adequately positioned as your average album song with potential, rather than a single with great expectation.

Despite Goodbye Kiss not living up to expectations, Kasabian do offer an alternative which is quite friendly on the ears. The instrumental attached to the single offers what can only be described as potential to be part of a film or T.V series soundtrack. Extremely reminiscent of Coldplay’s ‘Life in Technicolor’, the Instrumental may take your fancy were Goodbye Kiss does not….
