The very secretive No Ceremony releases their limited edition double A-side “HURTLOVE / WEARME”. The anonymous Manchester outfit have been described as a band, an artist, and a lone ranger. Nobody knows apart from the band.

The opening bars of “HURTLOVE” made my heart sink, sounding like the soundtrack to Twilight, I thought Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart may appear. Thankfully vampire free, “WEARME” shows off some good electronica with the emotive vocals definitely the highlight of the track.

Maybe No Ceremony is trying to be the Banksy of music - with all this mystery, who knows. Hyped as The Independent’s most blogged artist last year, I wanted to see why. However, I just felt this double A-side is trying to be so underground that it is lost in translation. Both tracks come across as a little repetitive but if you like ambient dance music, this definitely has a place in a trendy club or cocktail bar.

The production is excellent and we are kept guessing if they are new-comers or seasoned professionals but there is definitely potential. If you enjoy artists who are enigmas wrapped in mystery then this attention shy get-up might be worth looking at.
