When you play an album for the first time and it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up on end you know you have something special. When your nerve endings feel like they have been punctured with a sound so penetrative you know that no words can actually describe the special effect Young Guns have made upon you. This album surpasses every expectation you could have for a band for whom this is only their second album.

Written over a number of months from Thailand to Spain to a shed in the band's hometown of High Wycombe, 'Bones' marks Young Guns' transition from a band packed with potential to bonafide contenders for the title of Britain's best. It's a stirring album full of contradictions – it speaks of strength and vulnerability, friendship and loss, energetic youth and heavy-hearted experience all with a beast of a sound which has to be swallowed whole. If you know their debut album ‘All Our Kings Are Dead’ and liked it then you are in for the ride of your life! Imagine the mountain backdrop in the video for ‘Weight of the World’ and it is as if the band ran up them and screamed out loud from the mountain’s pinnacle and leaped back down again with all guns blazing! A sound that is so strong that you can hear each shot of pain and feel each drip of sweat which represents the effort that went into making this album.

The opening track ‘I was born, I have lived, I will surely die’ Gustav sings ‘Give it everything you’ve got’ and the band sure do. They waste no time getting straight in to it. Vocals that have no limit, thrashing drums and chords strummed so damn hard it’s a wonder how their fingers are left still in tact. The track ‘Bones’ bears the lyrics ‘I feel it in my bones’ and, wow, you will. Your bones will be rattling for days after hearing this. The album is released on Monday, 6th February. Buy it, listen to it and let your bones dissolve in it. There is no return, but you wouldn’t want there to be. There is no looking back for you or the band. I am on the Young Guns beastly ride and I’m loving every second of it. Are you with me?
