The Eden Sessions are here again. It's been a long wait for Cornwalls annual, if miserly slice of the big live music pie, and this year they're kicking off with a bang. Primal Scream, showcasing none less than their classic 'Screamadelica'. Yes,it's been 20 years since the baggy psychedelic masterpiece was unleashed on us......so how's it gonna sound live?

The venue itself here sets an awesome atmosphere with it's stage surrounded by the space age biomes, but tonight the Horrors have the task of warming up the crowd. Sadly the sombre atmospheric brilliance of tracks from their awesome 2nd album 'Primary Colours', mixed with a few teasers from forthcoming album 'Skying' don't seem to hit the target with this crowd. It's a shame. They may not be the most animated of bands but their music says it all.Another crowd ,another day for sure. The new tracks sound hauntingly brilliant, there's a lot more to come from these guys.......

Tonight's audience are here for one thing only, and there's a huge roar and immediate frenzied dancing when Bobby and the boys take the stage and launch into album opener 'Movin' on Up'. Accompanied with a psychedelic video show on the big screens, 'Screamadelica night is off to flying start.

The track listing gets a bit of a shuffle tonight but the whole of the album gets a much appreciated airing. Bobby prances around the stage, maraccas superglued to his hands, and looks like he's thoroughly enjoying himself. The slower numbers off the album get grouped together, creating a bit of a lull/breather, but generally the set doesn't disappoint.

Most of the original line up are on stage tonight, the notable difference being of course, Mani on bass. The ex stone rose slots in perfectly though and effortlessly gets his fingers round the classic bassline hook of both versions of 'Higher than the Sun'. He comments how up for it this Cornish crowd are tonight, and Bobby continues to dazzle, and half blind us all with what appears to be a tin foil shirt! Andrew Innes (guitar) keeps his bright purple ,high collared wolly coat on all night and just gets on with it....a lot of the crowd interaction tonight comes from Denise Johnson's replacement (Not sure of her name), which along with her amazing, powerful backing vocals, make her a valuable asset to the band.

The main set tonight finishes with the unforgettable 'Loaded' (though fyi Mudhoney used that "wanna be free" sample first!) and concludes with a rousing version of 'Come Together' which the whole crowd sings together until the band return for the encore......

They don't mess about, and give us 3 crowd pleasers. Country girl and Jailbird ensure the singalong continues, the set closer,of course is 'Rocks'. The Stonesesque rocker closes the night, and the crowd of 30 something plusses go home happy.......was it really 20 years ago that record came out??!
