East London’s Concrete was the basement location for Q Live with Miles Kane on Monday evening. With the feel of an underground car park the venue’s low ceilings were covered pipes and cables whilst being illuminated by a string of light bulbs more commonly found on construction sites.

Better known for his co–production in the Last Shadow Puppets with Alex Turner and former bands The Rascals and Little Flames, Miles Kane returns with as a solo artist.

His first single ‘Inhaler’ was released late last year and he’s been touring with the likes of The Courteeners and Beady Eye. Since then we’ve seen the release of singles ‘Come Closer’, ‘Rearrange’ and the debut album ‘Colour of the Trap’.

The live band consists of Miles Kane – Lead vocals/guitar, Eugene McGuinness – vocals/rhythm guitar, Jay Sharrock – drums, Ben Parsons – keyboards and Phill Anderson – bass guitar.

With plenty of Kane look-a-likes, the fans quickly filled the venue and surrounded the small stage which was tightly placed between the structural pillars.

Kane greeted the crowd with ‘Good evening everyone’ and sprung straight into ’Invisible’.

The band where all looking sharp with their shirts tucked in, while their winkle pickers and brogues shuffled to the melodic sounds.

Continuing to play songs from the album including singles ‘Re-arrange’ and ‘Come c
Closer’ the crowd swayed and bobbed while being treated to a musical assault as the band took little time to pause between songs. Kane only stopped to say ‘How r u London? Nice to do an intimate gig’ which the crowd responded to with a mighty cheer.

Dancing across the guitar pedals we experienced how technical Kane is on the guitar. His stage presence filled the venue and his musical skills where evident as the set progressed to its climax.

Closing the set Kane turned his sweaty torso to his band and said to the audience ‘A round of applause for my beautiful band’ and then ended the set with ‘Inhaler’ which saw the crowd sing along to every word.

Tonight’s performance highlighted a tight strong band with Kane rhythmic and as ever still catchy in his new guise.
