Liverpool Live's football team found themselves on the wrong end of a good hiding at the John Peel World Cup on Saturday afternoon. Nevertheless we were beaten by eventual champions Deltasonic along the way. The one worry is that The Suzukis didn't finish playing until 1am the night before, yet all the Deltasonic lads were as quick as lightning leaving our tired bones for dead.

One thing about being eliminated first is that we were back into town before the rest and tucking into the Aussie BBQ at Heebie Jeebies before the last ball was being kicked up in Childwall. And that gave us a chance to take in the chilled electronica of Seekae as we enjoyed our first pint of amber nectar. Sweet!

Later that evening we returned to St George's Hall to catch the first few from Sound Of Guns. The rockers as always turned everything up to 11 and shook the foundations of the great hall. This was also a chance to air some of the new material which was well received by the SOG faithful.

Back into the hub and dance outfit SBTRKT were busy building a layered attack on the ears and brain in the throbbing basement of the Shipping Forecast. Masks, blue lighting and cowbells adding to the vibe.

Down into the Masque theatre and headliners Spank Rock joined by Amanda Blank entertained but the crazy end to a crazy week was happening over at the Kazimier where Toronto hardcore band Fucked Up were tearing Liverpool to pieces and turning the darkened venue into a pulsing mass of bodies. Singer Damian Abraham stripped to his pants, jumping into the crowd and generally causing mayhem along the way. Big sweaty bear hugs to everyone who stayed to the end

Wow, three days of damn fine music, showing off Liverpool to it's maximum creative best. Credit to Dave Pichilingi, his team and the city council. Bring on number 5
