Last time Olly Murs performed in Cardiff he was fresh of the X Factor, now the pop superstar from Essex has received chart storming success with his debut album and also a number one single with ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’.

Now Olly is touring the country and is headlining his first arena show in the Welsh capitol, enthusiastic teens who queued from midday, rushed into the Motorpoint arena in hope of securing a perfect location. Excited fans brought banners with personalised messages into the venue to show support and love for the pop sensation.

Kicking of the show are a relatively new band called The Kixx, who done a fantastic job of getting the crowd warmed up. The band’s debut single ‘Already Gone’ has been played on Radio 1 and is set to stamp its mark on the charts this coming autumn. As The Kixx leave the stage its clear to see that the four piece have won over some new fans from their diverse performance.

The Kixx were followed by all female pop-group Wonderland, who’s fan base has been constantly growing since their hit show on ITV2. The group who is managed by Louis Walsh and Kian Egan, have developed a staggering reputation, and have already performed in huge arenas and at major festivals. Wonderland didn’t need much introduction, the deafening screams from the crowd was a clear sign of their growing success. The group is packed with spine tingling harmonies, infectious lyrics and have already been deemed as the next Girls Aloud. The girls will be releasing their debut album in June and if it portrays what was shown in their live performance, then it surely won’t be long until the group are headlining arenas of their own.

As the lights come down, the electrifying screams from the crowd is a signal that the anticipation is now over. As Olly appears at top of the staircase, the audience are in a frenzy for the young star. Performing notable fan favourites including ‘Thinking of me’, ‘I Blame Hollywood’ and ‘Heart on My Sleeve’ each song receives a great reaction. Since Olly Murs has emerged on the live music circuit, he has developed a reputation for his performances and he doesn’t hold off throughout his set. Incredible interaction and equally matching the same energy as what the audience is giving, evidently shows why his fans are so dedicated. Olly debuted new hits from his forthcoming album and next single ‘Busy’ is looking to be a chart topper with its release at the end of May. After performing a selection of covers Olly ended the show with the song that put him on the map, ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’ which ended the show a high!
