JuJu Sophie has a great pop/rock voice and this dense miasma of sound is excellent use of it.

Together with Nez Greenaway on drums she makes a huge noise, filled with passion and power and painting word-pictures of a desperate week – in JuJu’s own words “My shadow followed me into a motel. I was feeling soundless and delirious. I wanted to be alone so I locked myself in a room for a week. I brought with me little food and the gifts of a tambourine man. I can’t remember anything except for burning like a coin in someone’s hand. I was woken by people banging at my door. I must have been alone for days – not alone but longing for shade and driven by thirst”.

This is one of the first singles that have really captured the punch and rolling sensuality of their live performances but if thios is the direction that they are moving they are likely top be bringing a lot of others with them.
