Robyn’s latest album, Body Talk, is the final result of a year-long project. Keen to release some new material, as it had been 5 years since her last full release, Robyn released two short albums, Body Talk Pt 1 and Pt 2 earlier this year. Now Body Talk has been released, taking the best of Part 1 & 2 and adding a further 5 new tracks. Might be a bit of a con for die-hard fans who already have 10 of these tracks, however for many this will be the first opportunity to hear the fruits of Robyn’s year long labours.

The 15 tracks are nearly all high energy dance-pop cross-over tracks, with euphoric choruses and a general up-beat feel. There are many highlights on here, but current single ‘Indestructible’, ‘Time Machine’ ‘U Should Have Known Better’ (featuring Snoop Dogg) and ‘Love Kills are killer tracks that stand above many tracks by more commercial successful electro pop artists such as La Roux, Lady GaGa etc. Strong catchy beats, clever lyrics and fantastic delivery from Robyn ensure these tracks are mini-masterpieces.

There are a few slightly weaker tracks in my opinion, including the two openers ‘Fembot’ and ‘‘Don’t F***ing Tell Me What To Do’, as well as the slightly embarrassing Caribbean lilted ‘Dancehall Queen’. However these are minor gripes, and more than compensated by tracks such as ‘Dance To the Beat’ which takes you back to 80’s Brooklyn with its catchy electro-rap beats, and the collaboration with Royksopp – ‘None of Dem’ which is an elaborate multi layered pop gem.

This is an absolute must for lovers of pop with a slight edge; I fear this may get lost in the Christmas album rush but hopefully it will hold its own and survive the rush.
