'The Best Of Nelly Furtado' is the first greatest hits package from the Grammy Award winning Canadian singer. With tracks taken from all four studio albums, the compilation includes no less than five UK top ten hits including her only UK number one single 'Maneater'. The album also includes three tracks especially recorded for the release.

It is hard to believe it has been nearly 10 years since Whoa, Nelly first hit the shops accompanied by tracks like 'I'm Like a Bird', '**** on the Radio' and 'Turn Off The Light', but that was back in 2001, and since then Nelly Furtado's unique blend of Portuguese influenced music and her stunning distinctive vocal style have led to plenty of big tracks. Listening to this album reminds you of all the great songs she has released - 'Maneater', 'Promiscuous', 'Powerless (Say What You Want' and 'Forca' being some of the stand-out ones.

But this is also a forward looking releases with three new tracks including the current single 'Night Is Young' which sees Nelly evolve again, maintaining her distinctive style but adding a more modern underlying feel to the track. The other two new tracks 'Stars' and 'Manos Al Aire' are slightly less high impact; the former is a very stripped back ballad whilst the latter is a Portuguese mid-tempo acoustic pop song. More like what you'd expect from Nelly Furtado although the stripped back sound is quite unusual for her.

Finally, as a UK extra we get Nelly's Radio 1 Live Lounge recording of Gnarls Berkley's 'Crazy'. This an unusual, slowed down version of the track, and works really well.

So, together this is a great compilation, tracking Nelly Furtado from the beginning, through her Timbaland phase, and onto the future ahead of her. It really is a compilation worth getting to fully appreciate Nelly Furtado's career to date.
