Pixie Lott’s amazing rise to fame continues with the release of Turn It up (Louder), a repackaged version of her debut album Turn It Up with 10 new tracks added to the disc (22 tracks in total). The original album, boasting hit singles “Mama Do”, “Boys & Girls”, “Cry Me Out”, “Gravity” and “Turn It Up” still sounds good, but the addition of 10 newly released tracks gives the album a new angle.

Glad to see Pixie’s YouTube hit covers of ‘Use Somebody’ and ‘When Love Takes Over’ final get a full release; shame they overlooked her version of ‘Apologize’. Elsewhere within the new track there is the current single ‘Broken Arrow’, a couple of strong mid-tempo ballads, the strongest being ‘Without You’. Daniel Bedingfield wrote another mid-tempo ballad in ‘Can’t Make This Over’.

Rolling Stones’ is a faster paced number with a really catchy synth backing on it, and along with ‘’Doing Fine (Without You)’ are the two stronger dance numbers on here. Jason Derulo also gets to duet with pixie on ‘Coming Home’ which I really am liking with it’s chugging bassline and simplistic but catchy chorus; bit of a guilty pleasure; can see this being a future single.

Finally talking of singles, the final track is a slow number entitled ‘Catching Snowflakes’ – Christmas single by any chance?? It is actually really good with a emotional set of vocals over a simple piano led accompaniment. No sleigh bells on this version, but hey I guess they could soon be added!!

Good album, both for newcomers to Pixie’s music and also if you own the original (although the double outlay may grate a little!)
