Tinie Tempah can do no wrong at present. Third single ‘Written in the Stars’ is currently top of the charts and now his debut album has hit the shelves. And if you like the singles you are sure to love most of this album. Tinie (can I call you that Mr Tempah?) certainly has a knack for a catchy tune or two and along with the pick of some top female stars (Kelly Rowland, Ellie Goulding etc.) has developed some very commercially friendly tracks. Wouldn’t be surprised if both these collaborations make it as singles later.

It is evident throughout Disc-Overy that Tinie is an ambitious man, who has fought hard to get to his current status, and is now enjoying the benefits fame brings with it. He switches genre along the way with his Swedish House Mafia collaboration ‘Miami2Ibiza’ being one end of the spectrum whilst his Ellie Goulding duo sees a more laid back number, falling into Ellie’s style of music. In-between tracks like ‘Invincible’, ‘Just A Little’, ‘Let Go’ and ‘Obsession’ sit neatly in the middle delivering both big beats, witty raps (“My mum says I need to put on weight like Kelly Clarkson”) and catchy as you like choruses.

The only slip in quality for me comes on ‘Snaps’ which keeps reminding me of DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Summertime with it’s summery laid back beats (and the fact it sounds about 20 years old). It’s a strange inclusion that breaks the flow of an otherwise seamless album.

A fantastic debut from a talented UK artist.
