After hearing Example’s three singles – 'Won’t Go Quietly’, 'Watch The Sun Come Up’ and 'Kickstarts’ I thought I had a fair idea of what to expect from Example’s new album 'Won’t Go Quietly’. How wrong I was!! Whilst there are other tracks in the guise of the singles – 'Two Lives’, and to some extents 'Sick Note’, much of the album is more like an outing from 'Wiley’ or similar. It is very rap orientated which whilst I have nothing against it, isn’t what I expected.

The singles really for me are the direction Example should be going, more cross-over, darn catchy and generally quite unique tracks at present (although watch out for Diagram of The Heart next month, not too dissimilar from some of Example’s sound). Tracks like 'Hooligans’, 'Dirty Face’ and 'Time Machine’ don’t sit comfortably, and sound quite routine compared to the poppier sound of the singles. When not doing 'Wiley’ impressions, it’s The Streets on 'Something in the Water’.

It’s a shame as I was expecting big things here, perhaps it is just me, but the two styles don’t sit well together.
