We arrived at Brixton to find the Whip onstage with there heavy electro guitar beats.... the Whip seem a strange band to have support the Courteeners but actually it fits rather well... and has already created a buzz amongst the revellers..

The lights dimmed and on came the sounds of Rock n Roll Star by Oasis... This is a gig where for some reason unknown guys think they are actually all Liam Gallagher, and can handle there lager, I'm im not so sure, but it was evident that Mr Fray and his boys are trying to say something, and were ready to see if they've got the guns to prove it!

They came out fully charged to Cavorting which instantly got the crowd going, and Liam was his usual charming self, greeting the crowd and thanking everyone for being there. The tone was set, the atmosphere was blazing here we go another mancunian band ready to set the place alight.
Liam was encouraged and enthused with his audience. Acrylic was next up, the sound was a little distorted, and it didn't really need a play, "Will it be this way forever"... was the first track to be played from Falcon, with its deeper edgy sound with an almost editors twinge the crowd seemed relaxed and ready to stomp.
Then next was Sycophant. Then back to St Jude for the catchy "No you Didn't No You Don't" the tunes were mixed and varied a cross over from one album to the other. 'The Opener' was next, a conventional song full of clever flicks and feints this eased into "Cross my Heart and hope to fly", Scratch your name upon my lips' followed by Bide your Time, The Rest of The World has gone home, and You Over did it Doll.

Forget any preconceptions of boorish Manc laddishness this band is beginning to make sense. And yes they can step up to their introductory song, but they can also produce the witty lyrical charm we all now expect and desire to here, so maybe a comparison of many bands is what we have here all rolled into one to bring you a harmonic poetic sound but one that also wants to make you shake it and make it!
Then we hear what we want the last two obvious numbers were "Nineteen Forever" and "What took you so long" this left the crowd feeling they had just witnessed a great Rock n roll band, left with the lyrics twisted on their tongues echoing throughout Brixton, everyone was on a high... the band were impressed with their reception... yes tonight Mr Fray you were a Rock n Roll Star...
