Velvet Morning

Lovely shimmering guitar line opens ‘Paranoia’ and the surprisingly feminine tenor tones of Samuel Jones take you down a dark and deep spiral of mood with an almost soporific lassitude.

It rather sets the tone for the whole EP but, as debuts go, it has a remarkable confidence. Harsher critics than me might call it ‘shoe-gazing’ music but it also references the psychedelia of early Pink Floyd and an almost Amon Duul like jangle to the guitars. Overall it is really very good.

Of the other tracks on this six-number EP ‘Black Velvet Morning’ is edgy and has a great haunting feel while ‘Blue Jean Baby’ pounds with a huge bass line that just gets the feet twitching.

Utterly dispassionate on the surface but hiding deep and intense music within, a stunning debut.
