The Saturday Sessions 2011 is a collection of cover versions and rare stripped back acoustic versions from The Dermot O’Leary Show, which takes place every Saturday afternoon on BBC Radio 2.
This second installment in the Saturday Session series once again contains a strong line up of multi-platinum selling artists from Adele, Jessie J and Kelly Rowland to Kasabian, Paolo Nutini and Robbie Williams. All the tracks are exclusive to this album.
The Saturday Sessions 2011 has some absolute gems – Will Young’s take on Kate Bush’s seminal classic ‘Running Up That Hill’ is bliss, as is Plan B doing Smokey Robinson’s ‘Tracks of My Tears’. Equally stunning is Two Door Cinema Club’s stripped back ‘Something Good Can work’.
On CD2 Kasabian doing a surprisingly Beatles-esque version of Del Shannon’s ‘Runaway’, Mercury nominee John Creosote & Jon Hopkins doing a good cover of A-ha’s ‘I’ve Been Losing You’ and The Civil Wars do a good take on Billie Jean. Good to hear Moby live near the end as well doing ‘Natural Blues’
A great second outing for the series; lets hope it no as long until part 3.
