Described as ',the bastard child of a musical mind f**k between house, disco and new jack swing in the late 80’s' the mysterious London based Vanilla Ace had a storming year with releases on Toolroom, MODA, Blockhead, Maquina, Ministry of Sound. With DJ support coming from the Magician (two tracks on two Magic Tapes), Soulclap and Seth Troxler to name a few and with high charting singles on Beatport, Traxsource and Trackitdown, Vanilla Ace now takes his groove to America. Music-News.com caught up with him mid transatlantic flight for a quick chat.

- We have to ask, how did the name Vanilla ACE come about?
I was reading comments about something on Facebook sometime in 2011 and saw someone write it and immediately thought that would make a great artist name/alias for myself.

- How do American clubbers compare to UK ones?
This is my first US tour as Vanilla Ace doing underground house clubs/parties so hopefully they will be full of energy and up for it.

- Is there a standout show/city on the tour for you?
I am looking forward to playing the Rinsed It party in Brooklyn as I've never played in BK before, and Monday Social at Sound with Riva Starr should be exciting.

- What has been your highlight of 2013?
It would have to be the success of 'Bring it Back' which was in the Beatport Deep House top ten for around two months and in the chart all summer. The support has been great.

- Where will you be spending New Year's Eve?
In my bed sleeping! I'll be exhausted after this tour/year! I have a few option for NYE, sure I'll be somewhere.

- What's next for you, release wise?
Next release for me is a collaboration with Sharam Jey and my good friend Chad Tyson on a track called 'Higher', released Dec 9th on the new Bunny Tiger compilation. After that it will be my EP 'Mirage' on Dear Deer – which includes a great remix package!

- Which American celeb would you most like to be in the crowd at one of your shows?
Everyone's equal on the dance floor to me so doesn't matter!

Vanilla ACE's tour kicks off on Dec 6th in Chicago - for full details at facebook.com/vanillaace1
