This is what so many metalheads have been screaming out for over the last few years, some fresh meat, smashing out new and unashameably brutal metal the way it should be!
Despite having a ridiculously early slot on the Sunday The Defiled, still pumped from the Friday no doubt, gave it balls and then some! Putting on a show that with no special effects rivalled the likes of Alice Cooper and Rammstein! Looking as if they'd broken free from a consentration camp for the supernatural and fuelled with raw power The Defiled played an sweetly stomach churning set of thrashing tech metalcore. The neo-industrial twist makes them stand out from the crowd along with some superb vocals displaying an awesome range of screams mixed with dynamic melodies.
The Defiled pull off being original and classic at the same time and if pushed for a comparison I would say they lie somewhere between Machinehead and The Agony Scene. By far the best of the smaller bands at Sonisphere their talent is worthy of being reconised up there with the greats of the modern metal! With their recent EP release '1888' and an upcoming tour supporting Breed77 in September I would expect to hear a lot more The Defiled in 2011.
Regardless of their early afternoon slot The Defiled's live show was immense and saw new bassist Vincent Hyde and keyboard/effects player the A.v.D smashing at one another with their instruments, some beautiful stage diving and a keyboard get brutalised as if it belonged in the ground. These guys have the attitude and crowd interaction that is lacking in so many live bands today and what's more they have the songs to back it up...
If you love your metal then this is your new favourite band.
