Featuring a range of artists, both Icelandic and international, the Secret Solstice festival began on Friday June 19th and ended on June 21st in Reykjavik. The main headliner’s included Wu Tang Clan and Kelis, however the star of the show was the secret headliner who remained secret until 30 mins or so before their slot, was none other than Busta Rhymes.

“Busta” as the crowd chanted performed a 30 minute show to what seemed to be the biggest crowd of the weekend at the “Valhalla” arena (main stage). He performed a back catalogue with the addition of the chant “want more, pay me more” which the crowd sung along to. Obviously a dig at the festival organisers for the short set! Nevertheless, he gave an unforgettable performance in the evening with an incredible sunlight on this Solstice weekend.

The festival itself is probably the most unique in the world, offering the crowd every single performance in the sun, despite the music playing until the early hours of the morning. The Secret Solstice Festival couldn't have hoped for better weather across the weekend, especially the closing night which brought a UK festival experience to Iceland with warm weather accompanying the midnight sun.

The only down point of the festival was the initial organisation. Getting into the arena was long and tedious, with a variety of different types of tickets and the staff not really knowing which queue to send people to. Nevertheless, the sight of sun at 2.30 am, when it could have easily been 16.30 pm at Lovebox was unforgettable and more than made up for that shortfall!
