The General Election is dominating the news agenda in the UK, and now there's a bid for some of the debate to dominate the charts. Released ahead of the vote is this cheeky single from British based Polish singer/songwriter, Pola. Why Is This Happening? was first written as a Eurovision entry and that is quite evident, as there's a liberal smattering of cheese in its style.

But the serious message to this song is about immigration. Unlikely to feature at a UKIP rally (other parties are available to vote for) this is a song that voices its love of the UK and what is described as a heart-wrenching tale of a one-sided love affair between immigrant residents living in the UK and the cold-hearted Britain who isn’t returning the love. Blimey, all this in a 3-minute pop song!

The With Love 2015 UK campaign was conceived by Czech filmmaker, Lucie Wenigerova who decided to write this song as a love letter to the place where she has lived for more than two decades. It's even been featured on the BBC News channel. Immigration is one of the hottest topics at the election but whether this song is going to win over the waverers, only time will tell. For now, it's a fun tune with a serious message, and the sentiment has to be applauded. For Pola there is obviously a future, with a cheeky smile and pop voice, that's unlikely to be in politics!
