Having been a DJ/Producer since the early 90s under a plethora of pseudonyms (DJ Mayhem, Soul Purpose, Indigo etc), DJ-ed all over the globe, released tracks for the likes of Angie Brown and Juliet Roberts on his label and having remixed artists as varied as Mariah Carey and Jamiroquai – you could call Martin Ikin something of a veteran! But randomly, he’s never done is a gig in Cardiff – until this month – when he headlines brand new eco-friendly hangout The CF24 Project. We caught up with him for a quick chat.

Music News: what does 2015 hold for you Martin?
Martin Ikin: Lots of gigging and forthcoming releases, with some great collaborations too. Looking forward to people hearing all the new stuff.

Music News: you've had so many pseudonyms, are you just 'Martin Ikin' now?
Martin Ikin: Yep, that's it for the aliases now, you’re stuck with plain old Martin Ikin :)

Music News: having dj-ed all over the world for nearly 25 years, this is your Cardiff debut - how have you never played the city before?
Martin Ikin: I know it’s a strange one that... I've been there to watch football, but not to gig… Yet!

Music News: what can we expect from your set on the night?
Martin Ikin: Well you will just have to come along on the night and find out for yourselves…

Music News: where can we catch you this summer?
Martin Ikin: Oh all over the place, some great UK gigs and festivals along with some really cool gigs abroad too (he’ll be at Puur Festival, Lost City Weekender, Beach Bash, Springfest – to name but a few!)

Music News: and finally, we hear the CF24 Project is an eco-friendly venue is decorated with upcycled or recycled materials. Is there anything you currently own that you'd like to donate?
Martin Ikin: Haha, no - I’ve lost half of my clothes from moving house, so if I give anymore away I'll be turning up in shorts and a bath towel!
