Country music, while never unpopular, is having something of a purple patch at the moment with the likes of Eric Church, Striking Matches and our own The Shires getting good reviews and playing to packed houses. So into the mix we have Jess and the Bandits with their new single My Name is Trouble. That’s not to say that they’ve jumped on the old covered wagon. They’ve been around in one form or another since 2012 but it’s just recently that they’ve decided to pool their talents.

And talents they certainly have and in particular in Texan Jessica Clemmons who has one hell of a voice; one that can demolish houses, though just as easily pick up a butterfly. The Bandits lay down a breezy, frankly patented, country/rock groove, with choice licks of guitar in the usual places. It’s not new and seasoned listeners will tick off the influences. But it has an energy and sincerity that’s infectious and they warrant a further attention.

The single is available to download.
