With all the lists being issued of artists to watch for in 2014, there is awful lot of the same old same old - with record companies looking unimaginatively for the next big thing. But for guitar bands 2013 might prove to be a turning point after years of struggle. With Arctic Monkeys showing that bands with guitars can still be relevant and fresh, while Biffy Clyro prove there's an audience for tuneful rock - more bands might raise their heads above the parapet.

Possibly one to watch out for will be Jakil, who with Look Like Gold, have found something both fresh and engaging. While the guitar and drum feel give the track a late night vibe, it is the vocal that makes the track. Lead singer Kieran has a voice that forces you to listen, with a delicate emotion not heard enough in today's autotune world.

There is also a feeling of space early on - with Look Like Gold building to its catchy conclusion. Kieran, Jamie (Guitar), Liam (Guitar) K (Bass) and Callum (Drums) are ones to watch for sure, if they can match this.
