Last Wednesday, I have had the immense luck and pleasure to see Ed Sheeran at the O2 arena for his last London gig. Just two years after seeing him at the Hammersmith Apollo, it was time to measure the singer’s music and popularity growth and see if he was still the redhead young man with his guitar and his loop pedals.

Ed Sheeran appeared on stage at exactly 8:30 pm. Wearing a red plaid shirt, jeans, black converse and signature messy hair, the singer looked thinner and matured. Kicking off the concert with I’m a Mess, the artist got the crowd singing songs from both “Plus” and “Multiply”.
Sheeran likes to involve his audience into the gig so, he asked them to become a choir to sing Give me Love and You Need Me, I Don’t Need You. I See Fire took place in an almost religiously silent arena, which was quite eerie. The final with Sing got everybody wanting for more, leaving their seats still singing the catchy chorus.

What a thrill this concert was! Sheeran is so impressive, standing alone in front of a huge crowd, just him and his guitar. Nothing has changed, apart that now, Ed owns a lot more guitars than two years ago.

The singer looked somewhat shyer, maybe because of the size of the crowd and the venue. He got Don’t out of the way pretty fast and the whole concert felt kind of rushed. The singer is usually quite talkative but was pretty not in the talking mood that night.
Although Ed Sheeran is fantastic and talented singer-songwriter, the artist he is and the songs he plays fit a smaller venue. His songs are sweet, smooth, and intimate just as he is and, seeing him in such a big arena made the audience lose him a bit. It felt like he seemed a bit lost as well…
