If you don’t already know about Charlie Brown then now is the time to get to know! The London based singer has been on the circuit for years working alongside the likes of Frank Ocean, Jay Sean and The Script but has managed to break free from the restraints of being a ghost-writer to start making his own waves with his single, ‘On My Way’. The song itself seems to evoke remnants of his own struggle and at the same time inspires others on the same path to rise up and become something.

His soulful tone embodies a vocal range that has clearly been built on a diet of SWV and Marvin Gaye, yet delivers a universally recognised swagger that allowed Radio 1’s Jameela Jamil to liken the song to be ‘almost like a male answer to Jessie J’s Price Tag’.

It’s always nice to hear something positive yet humble on our airwaves. When the charts are regularly littered by manufactured ‘artists’ with songs conveying little-to-no message or a vaguely catchy hook that basically means nothing, Mr Brown aims to uplift the listener by highlighting his own struggle to prove that anything (within reason) is possible.

Due to the fact that the track has just debuted at number 7 on the official UK chart it’s looking like this could be a job well done by Charlie – let’s hope the next single is as good as this one!
