Despite being around since 2005, Brownstock has been relatively unheard of, but that still hasn't stopped the Essex festival of being nominated for “Best Small Festival” by the UK festival awards in both 2013 and 2014. I have no doubt with the lineup that Brownstock managed to host, the 2015 festival will equal or better the accolades of previous years.

With a mixture of families, teens and 20 somethings, Brownstock had the perfect audience blend and certainly catered for it. There was something for everyone in Morris Farm, excluding the music of course! From various food outlets, drink stalls (not forgetting the 20 seconds of free beer for those people who were luckily enough to be in the right place at the right time) and mini funfairs, Brownstock certainly didn't miss a trick.

Now on to the most important part, the music! Featured over 3 days, Brownstock hosted a mixture of artists from different genre’s, such as The Darkness, Example, The Hoosiers and Sigma. But the highlight of the weekend came from London electronic duo, Basement Jaxx. Basement Jaxx had a tough act to follow after Sigma gave a sterling performance as the unforgiving sun started to die down and it felt more like England again. Nevertheless, it was the experienced duo (Basement Jaxx) who like Brownstock, did not fail to disappoint, playing a very crowd friendly set with their hits from the past 2 decades.

Whilst for me Basement Jaxx stole the show, it would be wrong to give the other artists a disservice as there were some other top performances from the likes of Example, who closed on Sunday as the main headliner. Although the main headliner ended before 12, the party didn't stop there. There were DJ’s playing throughout the night for those who wanted to carry on (likely those camping who had the luxury of not worrying about public transport) with well known artists such as Bondax giving the crowd something to carry on partying to!
