Paris based Brodinski first caught the attention of the underground with his 2007 release of EP Bad Runner. Since then he’s remained one of the names whose success partly lies in his refusal to be pigeon-holed into one of the sub-genre tribes. His music encompasses everything from pounding electro, house, soulful electronica and minimal techno. Over the last short while he’s teamed up with fellow french producet Gesaffelstein. This, and the growing success of his own label, Bromance, has gained up a wide haul of international appearances, which this year has included the Winter Miami Conference, Sonar and Exit Festival. He’s appearing with Gesaffelstein on the DJMag stage at SW4 in 2 weeks time.
> When did you start playing alongside Gesaffelstein ?
We met about two years ago and briefly after we started to working together. We became really good friends and are now partners in crime !
> You’re rather different musically. What do you think brings it together so well and makes it work?
It works like the Ying and The Yang. Just being complimentary on some other stuff rather than just the music.
> Tell us about your recent “Bromance” release.
The Gesaffelstein EP 'Rise Of Depravity' just came out and the one before was from Club Cheval & Myself (Feat. Louisahhh from Los Angeles). We were really happy about those. I can't wait til you listen to the following ones!
> Having had the opportunity to go and play round the world, where haven’t you been where you would like to play?
I would like to play in Romania, in Belize, in Alaska, in every country of middle Africa and in Greece.
> You have recently moved over to LA – what prompted the change and how are you liking it thus far?
I love LA and I love Paris. I love the fact that I can take a little bit of both and make my life so easy and enjoyable.
> You were recently featured on the cover of DJ Mag, which is kind of like the Rolling Stone of our generation – was this an honour?
It's absolutely an honour for Mike & me. We loved the whole subject about France too. So happy to be part of this, it means a lot to us.
> So besides the extensive touring, what are the plans for 2012? Are you planning any work on a full length album?
I'm gonna work on an album but not for 2012. Bromance is definitely my number one priority this year.
> You have previously mentioned that you thrive when working with other artists – if you could work with anyone who would it be?
Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Drake, Andrew Weatherall or maybe Quincy Jones. Trying different stuff...
> Also playing Together at Amnesia this summer – what do you look forward to most about the season?
Everything that I'm doing this summer is pretty exciting and I'm really happy about it. Can't wait for SW4 too!
> Is there anyone playing SW4 that you must see ?
I'm really excited to see Green Velvet, Simian Mobile Disco, Diplo, Erol Alkan, 2Many DJs because they're good friends. And Public Enemy because they're legends.
> Finally, why should your fans see you play this year at SW4?
It's been a while since I played a festival in London. I'm so glad to do it this year. We’re gonna drop
some brand new Bromance, and trust me, it will be worth it :) x
