Bowie Jane’s first interview and review on Music-News was the start of what has so far been a very busy year for the Australian singer. When we first met Bowie, she was fresh from court, where minutes before she’d been doing her day job as a criminal lawyer. Now those court appearances seem less likely as her pop career gathers momentum. Full page spreads in the Express, Mail Online and across UK radio stations, have seen her profile raised considerably.
Much of that came off the back of her debut single in the UK Luv Bomb, a song described as frighteningly catchy by this reviewer and her follow up Bad Boy sticks just as easily in your head. Starting with a cheeky telling off for the “naughty boy” whose girlfriend rings when he’s not there and is ‘found out’ by our protagonist, this (and certainly the video) is a chastising for those male celebrities who are perhaps a bit, well, naughty. The sound is very similar, with the potential for heavy dance mixes of the euro-pop style.
There’s a touch of slapstick in the lyrics and a huge smile as she sings “you’re full of sh….shame”; it’s a sing-a-long moment for many girls before a ‘getting over him’ night out I’d imagine. Bad Boy sounds like that sexy teacher telling off her teenage class of boys; or maybe that's just the imagination running wild! It is certainly as catchy as Luv Bomb, but probably a better song and it will certainly build on the success of her debut. Now we wait to see what else Bowie Jane can show us in terms of music; the pop bubble can quickly burst – and we’d like to see whether she can extend her range. Perhaps the third single might be that tender break-up ballad!?
