To say this concert has been highly anticipated would be an understatement. Originally planned over six months ago, the trio delayed the concert to work on a new album. Add to that a previous four and a half year hiatus, and fans have been waiting a long time.

So was it worth the wait?

Before we get to the main act there were the support acts, Twin Atlantic and All American Rejects, both performing admirably and managing to move the crowd in their own way.

But their presence paled in comparison to the frenzy whipped up by the appearance of the band everyone came to see.

Both new songs and old songs were played, including old fan favourites such as ‘Carousel’, ‘The Rock Show’ and ‘I Miss You’, each one only causing the crowd to go more and more wild with a surprisingly large amount of mosh pits considering both the venue and music genre.

In between songs bassist Mark Hoppus and singer/guitar Tom DeLonge found time to joke to the audience with all the usual banter we’ve come to expect and love from the pair.

Of course drummer Travis Barker has his own chance in the spotlight with a whirlwind drum solo, complete with enough lighting and smoke to fill a clubhouse.

It’s strange to think that this band hasn’t even set foot on a stage together for almost half a decade, and yet here they were playing as though nothing had changed in those years. They joked, laughed, and played with all the enthusiasm we have come to expect from them.

All in all this was a terrific concert well worth the wait and I imagine a lot of people are eagerly anticipating the next chance they get to see them - I know I am.

But more importantly it proves once and for all, Blink 182 is back and it appears they aren’t going to stop anytime soon.
