2011's Like A Man was a turning point for Adam Cohen. Weighed down by his father's shadow on his first three albums, he had been about to walk away from music, before he was persuaded to give it one more go. The result was a critically acclaimed collection - described by his father as world-class love songs. Three years later, Cohen returns with a new found confidence - even allowing himself to scrap an entire record during the time he's been away.

The title suggests a sense of family and comfort - and the record is described as homemade, with recordings taking place on the Greek island of Hydra, where he spent much of his childhood and in Montreal, where he was born. Cohen says he needed to feel 'rooted' after touring on the back of Like A Man's success.

The result is more lush than its predeccesor, with strings and backing vocals adding warmth and tenderness. Recorded with a three-piece band, rather than alone, We Go Home, feels more widescreen while at the same time wrapping you with a warm blanket. Cohen's vocal is more tender than his father's - exemplified on Too Real, with a gentle, almost spoken verse, followed by a charming chorus about being scared of love.

Put Your Bags Down and Song of Me And You have the same feel, while Love Is has a gospel feel around a sumptuous piano. The title track is the jewel in the crown, with a singalong chorus and wonderful acoustic guitar hook, it's already been played on Radio 2.

There is still a lot of Cohen dealing with his father's influence. On Fall Apart he sings 'we will be hearing his voice like you are hearing it now...his breath inside my lungs, his words upon my tongue". On Put Your Bags Down there's a reference to being pushed too early. It seems the therapy session is continuing, but rather than feeling too introspective, We Go Home invites you to share in the emotions.
