Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong joins The Voice in US

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong signs up to be a mentor on smash hit talent show The Voice.

He said in an NBC press release that he appreciates the show because “it’s not molding artists, it’s just giving them a little bit of guidance and direction without giving them a complete makeover.”

Armstrong has already begun taping, and said working with Christina Aguilera is “a lot of fun.”

It’s some prescient timing for the platinum punk rocker, who is preparing the band’s triple-album release in September, November, and January.

The next season of the US version of The Voice premieres on NBC on September 10. The first Green Day album, Uno!, will be released on September 25.
