Dave Grohl to be honoured with giant drumsticks sculpture

His birthplace of Warren, Ohio, will honour Foo Fighters and Nirvana legend Dave Grohl with a giant drumsticks sculpture.

Rolling Stone reports that Warren, Ohio isn’t satisfied with honouring one of its most famous songs by naming a street after him (which they have already done – Dave Grohl Alley) and have upped the ante by fashioning two 900-pound poplar logs into drumsticks. The sticks actually have feathers etched into them to echo Grohl’s trademark forearm tattoos.

Grohl was born in the town but moved to Alexandria, Virginia when he was young, and eventually settled in Seattle to join Nirvana.

The whopping tribute will be unveiled on Saturday 7 July during a concert at the Warren Amphitheater. No word on Grohl actually attending the ceremony, but Rolling Stone points out that he’s not currently on tour with Foo Fighters, so he might be available.
