The Stone Roses made their joyful homecoming at the first night of the three day Heaton Park Manchester weekender yesterday.
75,000 lucky music fans descended on Heation Park to see the Manc legends return after 16 years.
The original line up of Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni kicked into 'I Wanna Be Adored'.
'Mersey Paradise', 'Sugar Spun Sister' and 'Where Angels Play' followed with Ian Brown saying "As you can see, we've still got it."
Later in the set Brown had a dig at the monarchy stating "This song's dedicated to those parasites down the road… celebrating 60 years of tyranny!"
They closed the hour forty minute set with 'I Am The Resurrection' at the end of which they hugged, stood together at the front of the stage before disappearing with no encore.
A firework closed the nights entertainment to the sound of 'Redemption Song' by Bob Marley.
A Music-News.com reporter commented, 'It's the greatest comeback I've ever witnessed. They were tight, solid and clearly enjoying themselves up there. They sounded better than ever. It's what music is all about a real pleasure. I hope they get back in the studio quick and start recording a new album, I'm sure it would be brilliant.'
