Elton John gig cut short because of weather

Elton John’s concert in Blackpool was cut short after the weather turned bad at the outdoor gig.

Sir Elton’s show at the new arena on the Tower Festival’s headland was the first ever gig at the new venue.

Police had to intervene and ask Sir Elton to stop the show although he did get two hours into his set.

Blackpool was pelted by rain all day before the show and continued as the concert began.

“The police say you need to leave right now in an orderly fashion,” Elton told the crowd. “I’m sorry but I don’t want anyone to be hurt. I’ll make it up to you.”

The concert was his first show in Blackpool since 1977.
