Rod Stewart will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday for the second time. He was originally inducted in 1994 as a solo act and is about to go in as a member of the Faces.

Unfortunately, Stewart will not be at Saturday's ceremony due to contracting a case of strep throat, according to some sources and flu according to others. His publicist, Hannah Kampf, said "Unfortunately Rod is battling the flu this week and regrettably he is unable to accept his induction in person in Cleveland."

Stewart issued the statement "I'm absolutely devastated. Shattered that I'm going to miss my second induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and this time alongside my mates."

Also out is the planned reunion of Rod with the Faces who have been fronted most recently by ex-Simply Red lead Mick Hucknall, who is flying in to Cleveland to take Stewart's place.

The announcement was made at the Rock Hall where Ronnie Wood told reporters "Lead singers are dropping like flies. Rod, Axl Roseā€¦"

Wood went on to tell Billboard "We were completely gutted by the news. Rod was totally gutted by the way. [His doctors] aren't even letting him fly."
