Billboard is reporting that John Frusciante has decided not to join the Red Hot Chili Peppers for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Frusciante was played guitar for the band from 1988 to 1992 and again from 1998 to 2009 when he left to work on solo material. Josh Klinghoffer was his replacement.

Billboard talked with Chad Smith about, among other things, their induction and he said that Frusciante had decided not to come. "He didn't feel comfortable coming, which we totally respect. We asked him... He said, 'I'm just not really comfortable with that, but good luck and thanks for inviting me.' It was all good. He's the kind of guy, I think, that once he's finished with something he's just on to the next phase of his life. The Chili Peppers are not really on his radar right now."

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be inducted on April 14 in Cleveland, OH.
