As Noel Gallagher accepted the Godlike Genius awards last night Paul Weller, Kinks frontman Ray Davies and Russell Brand all paid tribute to the Oasis backbone, with the Brand saying he is "a hero to a generation".
As he accepted the award Noel thanked the fans who had put thier hands in their pockets saying:
"I'd like to start by saying to all the people up there who bothered to buy a ticket, a CD, or a T-shirt because that's what ****ing counts: the merchandise, thank you."
Kasabian, Florence, Vaccines and Pulp were also among the winners at the ceremony at O2 Academy Brixton.
